A former IT professional turned passionate early childhood educator, Veena Sundaramurthy co-founded Kayo International Preschool in 2013 with a deeply personal mission — to create the next best place to home for every child who walks through the doors.
With over a decade of hands-on experience in early years education, Veena has shaped the educational journeys of more than 1,000 children across Kayo’s campuses in Perungudi and Kandanchavadi, Chennai.
The Journey from IT to Early Childhood Education
Before stepping into the world of preschool education, Veena built a successful career in the information technology sector. But the experience of becoming a mother and witnessing firsthand the gap in quality early childhood care in Chennai sparked a transformation that would change the course of her professional life.
Driven by the conviction that a child’s earliest years are the most formative, Veena chose to invest in rigorous academic preparation. She completed her graduation in Early Childhood Education from TESOL and earned a Diploma in Child Psychology from British Learning — equipping herself with the theoretical depth and practical understanding needed to build a truly child-centred institution.

Creating the NURTURE Curriculum
Veena’s most significant contribution to early childhood education in Chennai has been the development of the proprietary NURTURE curriculum, built through Caprics Learning Lab. This curriculum is not borrowed from a franchise or copied from a textbook — it was designed from the ground up to reflect how young children in India actually learn best.
The NURTURE curriculum is a thoughtful blend of Montessori principles, play-based pedagogy, and STEM exploration.
